Hello all,

I got my police certificate from back home in July 2014 (last time I went home), I'm ready to send my PR yet was wondering if I also need to request a police check in Canada. I have lived in Canada for five years.

Reading the CIC website they said it is not mandatory to send, yet if they happen to need it they will request it to me.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks a lot!

The police certificate is only valid for 3 months from when you received it. The PC you have from July 2014 probably needs to be replaced with a new one. As for ordering a PC for Canada, I think CIC orders it themselves.

Saria is correct.

If your police certificate is more than 3 months old when you apply it will be rejected, and you risk your application being returned for it being incomplete.

Get a new one, then file.

CIC does not require you get a police check for Canada.

Thanks all for the reply.

I will get these documents exactly in a month and a half, can I add an explanatory letter to CIC, send my PR, and send them these documents when I have them ready in the end of April? I know the risk is always there and it's up to the officer, but wondering if other people have ever done this and had no problem.

CIC explains in their website when applying inland it may be more difficult to get these police certificates, and if we cannot obtain these in time to add a letter.

Thanks!

Inland??? Are you sure you want to apply inland? The SA time alone is now 17 months and getting longer by the month. Whereas outland is less than 12 months from start to finish.

I'm an outland applicant, I sent my application in with a note notifying the agents the PC would follow once I received it, but the backlog at the FBI was 14-16 weeks. I also included a copy of the Fedex receipt showing I sent for it. I was given SA and our application was sent on to the Visa office.
