Police Certificate from India

Hi All,

I received my ITA on the 25th JAn 2017 and I am currently lcollating the documents for the next steps. I am from India and I am living in the UK currently. I know one of the necessary documents is a police certificate from India. Would anybody know how I can get one whilst I am still abroad?

You can get it through VFS. Go to the website and select consular services. Make an appointment online and go to office with your documents. you get your passport back after 10 days. It costs £27 something if you pay cash or through debit card and £29 something if you pay by credit card. You can either choose their courier service for £15 or you could buy the special delivery envelope from the post office for £7.50. I got mine done at the office in Paddington and I took my own special delivery envelope from the post office. They stamp your passport stating that the PCC is issued.

In the documents as address proof, can I submit a UK bank statement as proof? My wife does not have her name in any of the utility bills and I am wondering what to do.

For India, police character certificate is not acceptable by CIC.....it has to be Police Clearance Certificate.....

Does she have a full or provisional driving license? I think you need to take 2 proofs of address, 1 of which has to be a utility bill. My wife and I have divided bills for the sake of proof of address and building credit. Example: I have council tax and electricity in my name and she has water and landline and internet in her name.
