Police Cert from USA

Hi,
I hope someone can help me.. I need to request a police Certificate from The United States. I believe that i have to contact the FBI? I need to get my fingerprints done here in Toronto and then send them to the FBI? could someone that has gone through this process please help me .... much appreciated.

Yes that’s correct, get your finger prints done they will send it off for you just have the address for the FBI ready. You can find it online. The FBI will mail you your background check.

You would have to look that up I found a list of places through the cic website when you follow the link regarding police certificates. I’m not in Toronto sorry.

I used Canadian Fingerprints - on College St in Toronto. I was in and out of the appointment in under 15 minutes. Super quick and easy. Fill in the form the FBI require, make sure you pay the fee and include the receipt and send them all off. I swiftly received online, my FBI Police report back. I printed that and included it in my application. My paper one, i received seven weeks later.

Thanks for the info! So how much was it to get fingerprints done? And then there's also the FBI fee??

I think it was $50 cash for the fingerprints and $18 USD for the FBI check, that you pay for on the website.
https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks - everything you need to do and know is here. I went with option 2, fill in the form, pay the fee & got my fingerprints taken, then mailed them to the address provided on that site.

Just book an appointment at the fingerprint place and they can help you with any other questions. It's really easy and straightforward process, just make sure you don't cut your fingers before you get them scanned!

So I just got my fingerprints done for the FBI clearance. I'm not filling out the application form online. They ask for a SSN number ... which I do not have. Do I just leave this blank then?

I’m pretty sure you don’t need your SSN to fill in the form as long as you fill in the rest of the form correctly.
