Points of 2 years studies

Hello Everyone,

I have done 12th from India and 2 years of study in Canada (8 months + 8 months continuously). Ideally for 2 years of studies, we get 98 points but for some reason, I am getting 90 only. Basically my studies are counted as 1 year. Does anyone know what could be the issue ?

I would appreciate the assistance.

So you did one two year program or two, 8 month programs? So you get points only for one program.

Probably high school/secondary. Only completing an ECA will confirm it.

thanks for replying, i have done 2 programs of 8 months each. 8 month program is counted as 1 year right so 8 months + 8 months should be counted as 2 years but i am getting point only for 1 year.

Your score is correct.

You can only claim points for having a 2 year program if you take one single program that is at least 2 years long.

So you can only claim points for a 1 year program.

I dont understand this honestly, i know alot of people who have done 2 courses of 8 months and they are considered as 2 years of study.

Even if we do 1 course of 16 months (4 semesters), its counted as 2 years of study.

But it clearly states a two year program for 98 points. You didn’t complete a 2 year program. You completed a one year program (twice). A two year program is 4 semesters. So talk to all these people you know and have them show you that they had their points counted as a two year program. We have told you and posted IRCC requirements. Your profile is not going to change with added points. So call IRCC and ask.

What is the best way to contact IRCC ? They dont pick the calls and dont reply on web forms.

Only by phone or webforms. They are not going to change algorithms or IRCC policy and rules, as you will only get credit for a one year program. Again talk to all the people you say got the points and have them show you how they answered the questions and got PR.
