Hi,

I'd like to seek some guidance for my express entry as to whether I can use my work experience as a Research Assistant while full-time postgraduate student for CRS points towards Federal Skilled Worker. My personal situation:
-----
* master's degree in Computer Science from a Canadian university (2012-2014)
* worked continuously as a Research Assistant (NOC 4012) for 2 full years from 2012.1 to 2014.1 (while being a full-time master's student), with 35 hours of full-time work each week. No work permit was issued or required for the job.
* currently working full-time as a software engineer (NOC 2173) in Canada on PGWP for about 7 months from June 2016. No LMIA is issued or required for the job.
-----

Currently I use Research Assistant as my primary work experience. My profile is eligible only for FSW with a score of 445 = 94 (age)+ 135 (education) + 136 (language) + 50 (skill transferability - education) + 30 (Canadian education), but I get 0 points in the "Canadian Work Experience" section. That makes my total score 2 points less than the minimum requirement of the last draw...

So my question is: is it because work exp while full-time post-graduate students cannot be used for any CRS points towards FSW to begin with, or is it because of something else that pertains specifically to my situation (e.g. my current work NOC 2173 is not the same as previous exp NOC 4012; the exp was too long ago; etc...)?

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer to this and it looks like I can count the work exp according to cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=855&top=6, but in reality I don't get any points.

Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated!

Matt

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
No, you cannot get any points as you worked while being a student in Canada.

The answer would be different if you were a research assistant while studying outside of Canada.

Thank you very much @DelPiero07 ! That answers my question. Although I guess that also means I'll have stick to with this low, border-line, score for now and hope for the best for the next draw...sigh..

Again, I really appreciate the help.
