Hi all,

Apologies if this has been covered already, I couldn’t see anything directly relating to my situation after searching.

I am applying for PR and I am currently sitting on 456 points. My common-law partner is a Canadian citizen (we met in the U.K. whilst she is studying here) so when she graduates I plan to return to Canada with her. I wanted to clarify, when creating my application I presume that when stating I have a common-law partner, that she will not be included on my application as a Canadian citizen? So when asked if she will accompany to Canada I should answer this no, which also means I do not need to provide police checks and language tests for her, just proof of her residence (I.e passport)?

This also leads me to the points for siblings in Canada, my partner has two sisters who meet the criteria for sibling points however I presume as I am stating she is not accompanying me to Canada that I would not be entitled to get these points? Even though I have a common law partner with siblings living in Canada I cannnot claim for this as she is already a citizen and therefore not technically part of my application?

I presume I do not need to additional 15 points as I should be fine with 456 to her an invitation to apply with this anyway?

Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

You won't be able to claim points for her siblings since your common law partner is already a Canadian citizen, therefore non-accompanying. You will still need to provide proof of your common law relationship.

You have more than sufficient points on your own to get an ITA.
