Hello Seniors,
I was reading on various options to get PR in Canada and ended with these two choices.
This is for Ontario province and want to know more about pros and cons of each.
Factors for comparison which I think can give a precise comparison:
1.Processing times.
2.Eligibility Requirements.
3.Post-PR advantages.
4.Success percentage.
Here is my research:
1.Processing Times:
For CEC,it is 13 months.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/inFORMation/times/perm-ec.asp
For PNP ontario,As per my analysis it is anywhere around 15 months.(3+12).
3 months for province to approve your PNP application and 12 months for Immigration to process your PR application.

2.Eligibility Requirements:
Along with other generic ones,Requirements which,i think, make the difference are as follows:
CEC:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp
12 months of skilled work experience in the three years before you are applying.
Skilled Work Experience is the one which under NOC O,NOC A,NOC B job classifications.
Work experience can be full time or equivalent part time experience.
Full time experience translates to atleast 30 hours of paid work per week.
#Experience during the time when you are a full time student does not count. However,If you are not full time student and authorised to work full
40 hours,it will count.
NOC stands for National Occupational Classification.

Ontario PNP(For Masters students as I am a grad student and didn't have enough info for rest of the folks):
http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/OI/en/pnp/OI_PNPSTUDENTS_MASTERSAPPLY.html#_qualify
0.You do not need a job offer to apply for PNP.(International Masters Students)
1.Intend to live and work in Ontario. (No such condition in CEC)
2.Have graduated from an existing Masters program at an eligible publicly funded university in Ontario.(No specific study in CEC)
3.Have completed a minimum of one academic year degree program, while studying on a full-time basis.
4.Apply within two years of the date on which their Masters degree was granted, or in the alternative, during the last semester of completing their degree.
5.Currently be residing in Ontario.
6.Demonstrate a minimum level of savings/income to support themselves and their dependants.(No funds need to show in CEC)
7.Not have further studies as their main activity in the province (e.g., pursuing a PhD or another degree/diploma).(No such restriction in CEC)
Post-PR advantages:
I am not sure if it is a valid point to differentiate these two. However, What I head of that you can not move to other province after getting PR through PNP but no such thing with CEC. Some people will argue that you can, as you can pull this off without getting noticed. However,As per CIC,it is wrong/illegal.Seniors you can help me in being more precise on this.
4.Success Percentage:
This is what I found most tricky and want to know more on this from seniors.
First of all,Here is some CIC documented info:
1.Under the International Student Category’s Masters Graduate Stream,Opportunities Ontario has a target of 1,300 nominations in 2013.
Ontario’s Masters Graduate students do not require a job offer.
2.For 2013,Ontario reached its above on September 20,2013.
http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPNEW.html
As per this doc,Nominee applications that cannot be finalized in 2013 will automatically be placed in priority for finalization in 2014. Complete nominee applications will be finalized on a first-come-first-serve basis.
My doubts:
If they received 2600 applications in 2013. They will process 1300 hundred in 2013 and rest will be in priority for 2014. How does it affect applicants who will apply in 2014. Does it mean,Province will process 2600 applications in 2014(1300 back log and 1300 new ones)??
3.
www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/applications-accepted.asp
a.From November 9, 2013 to October 31, 2014, CIC will accept a maximum of 12,000 new, complete applications under the Canadian Experience Class.
b.On 1 March,2013: Number is 3, 353 / 12,000
c.For all other NOC B occupations, we will accept up to 200 applications per occupation. Once we reach the cap, we will no longer accept applications for that occupation. You can also find information on the above link about how many spots are left in your NOC B slot.
Last but not the least, You can apply in both and see how it goes for you. Above information is for reference and for me to take advice from seniors, on my understanding/decision making.
Thanks in advance!!!
