I applied to Buffalo and did my medicals in June 2008. It's almost been 1.5 years. I am from pakistan. Based on your experience, how much longer do you think I would have to wait for passport request?

A long time ago, I would think that something has got lost in the mail. Send a case specific email to Buffalo.

Still pretty strange, unless you were in the Military, background security should be complete.

Though I am a Pakistani Muslim hence these extended checks do not surprise me. I was just wondering based on your experience, how long further do you think I have to wait given my background (ie muslim).

Brother, I'm an Ex-Military Officer. It took me 4.5 yrs to come to the medical stage. And now, its 3 months post med and no horizon is still visible.

With your case, even with all hell broken loose with Security Checks, you should have made it by now. If you have sent the email to Buffalo long back, I suggest send them one more NOW. And don't wait for another 3-4 months for a reply... keep repeating the email trail every 2-3 WEEKS. That's what I'm doing and they are patiently replying too.

Thus, with their reply emails I am aware of every step my case is moving to. Actually, it's pretty much looking as though it's my CAIPS, off course I have it updated every 15 days now.

GO & ASK THEM AGAIN, BROTHER.

PMM, is there anything I can do for CIC to act? I have seen some people contact their MPAs. However; I don't live in Canada, so cannot use that option, perhaps? Any suggestions or do I just have to wait.

Order you CAIPS notes, google CAIPS there are a few companies that will do it for you, or if you have a relative in Canada, you can authorize them to obtain them.

Yes, it is good sign, at least someone is looking at your application. I personally think that your application got lost in the shuffle and your email woke them up.
