Hi all,

My husband had submitted the application form to HK CIC office on Apr 12, 2008. We know that we will be under the new immigration system. However, I fully scanned the website of CIC, I am afraid that the new system will only focus on identifying critical occupational categories and it will not consider another criteria via the simplified process. Even if my husband lived in Canada over 10 years and he was graduated from the University of Canada as well as he also got the level 7 in IELTS. I am afraid that the CIC office will never know. I think it is very unfair.....
Thx a lot.

Well nothing you can do about that...You just have to wait and see if he gets on the list. No point worrying now, leave that for later!

Hi qbanky,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I just want to say my husband is WELL TRAINED from CANADA over 10 years. However, I am very disappointed and disheartened that if he is not on the list. Why does the Canada Gov't abandon him?

Since the list hasn't been published, what are you moaning about?

Hi All,

My husband is working at bank as Financial Officer. I am afraid that the new system will only focus on identifying critical occupational categories like agriculturist.......and it will not consider another criteria via the simplified process. Thx.

simplified method of application has nothing to do with skill-based prioritization rule they will be using. A bank financial officer will likely be a great skill needed in many provinces. So relax.

Hello,

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC-CNP/docs/Matrix_Poster_English.pdf

Just check this list and if his job falls under the O,A,B and C then you don’t have to worry. CIC is also going to launch Canadian Experience Class Category for work permit holders and International students may be your husband will be eligible under that.

Good Luck

being on the NOC list doesn't mean your skills are in hot demand in canada. the minister will compile a list of jobs in high demand in canada and that is the list CIC will use. the NOC is just a comprehensive list of recognized job classifications in canada for skillful people. being recognized as skillful does not mnean your skill is in high demands right now in canada.

Dear olusolalekan,

What is the most demanding category in Canada now? Is it possible to provide some idea, like number 1 demanding is Electrical engineer, number 3 is Teacher etc.
Is there any source?

Thank in advance for your kind info.

There are currently lists of occupations under pressure in different provinces of Canada. Here is the link to the list for the popular Provinces.

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/abouplist.shtml

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/bcouplist.shtml

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/mbouplist.shtml

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/nsouplist.shtml

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/onouplist.shtml

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/peiouplist.shtml

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/qcouplist.shtml

I hope these help. I strongly believe the combined list they will come up with will be close to these list.

If you are flexible as to where you want to live and work, you stand a good chance if your skill is listed in any of the lists above. the reason is that CIC will refer/recommend applicant with specific skills needed in specific provinces under the new rule/procedures.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Will this list be a national list, or will it be Province specific? I am very sure that the demand for more positions in Alberta are quite different than the position demands in, say, Prince Edward Island and the Northern reaches of Ontario.

Hi all,

being recognized as skillful does not mean your skill is in high demands right now in canada.

That is exactly what I want to say. I worry when my husband's skill will be the high demand in Canada under the new system. However, those who submitted an application before February 27 will continue to be processed under the old system, i.e. CIC will be required to process every application no matter what is your occupation provided that you meet all criteria. However, I observed that many people are still not taking the IELTS exam. Even now many people are still asking if TOEFL and GRE scores are acceptable instead of IELTS. The guideline clearly stated that you must meet all criteria at the time you submit your application. I wonder that why they submitted their application since they hadn't met all criteria. It is one of the reason that the backlog was grown to 900,000 and my husband is exactly suffered from them. My husband will be fell into the new system because he complied with all the application criteria like he accumulated many years of working experience and already got the level 7 in IELTS so that he submitted the application form late. Did he took the wrong way????? Maybe he is too chastity and honesty!!!!!!!!

mavis,

you are too pessimistic. a bank officer will always be in demand in canada and you can see that from the list i posted.

many provinces needs experienced bank officers and that occupation will SURELY be on the new list of occupation under pressure. to help you think this through....when an economy is booming and growing, it leads to many economic transaction that will also require banking activities......just relax!

as a matter of fact, it is a good thing your husband is going under the new rule. he will be prioritized for his skills. if he applied on feb 26th, he may wait forever because old rule is first-come-first-serve.

now about toefl/ielts - many people submit without the result if they submit their application with other form of evidence of their language skills. sometimes those evidence is acceptable to cic and sometimes it is not acceptable and cic may then ask them to take the exam. i agree that many people submit their application knowing fully well that they may still have to take the test. they then backlog the line.
cic may do better by not creating a file for applications that surely needs ielts.

back to your husband case,,,,i will repeat myself .............many provinces needs experienced bank officers and that occupation will SURELY be on the new list of occupation under pressure. to help you think this through....when an economy is booming and growing, it leads to many economic transaction that will also require banking activities......just relax!

When the list comes out you will know ... otherwise at this rate you will probably worry yourself to death!
As for people applying earlier; life is a choice as long as it's within the rules its totally fair!
