Hi Everyone,

So I finally submitted my papers after a very long journey just like you all.
Today I received notification from CIC that ny Additional Family information form is in complete.
My wife is my sponsor (who has kids from a previous marraige) and I am the applicant - no kids.

I was previously advised that it was only me that needed to complete this form but after hearing back from CiC now I am not so sure.

Does my wide (my sponsor) have to complete her own copy too? Her kids are over 18 and have their own children. Does each of her children also have to complete a form?

I have brothers and sisters which I listed - do they need to complete a form? I assume not.. but then I thought I had everything right the first time :)
Sorry if these questions were answered before I am panicking as I only have 10 days to respond.

Many thanks in advance and good luck to everyone.

no, "family members" and "spouse" as described by IRCC for application purposes means anyone listed in the applicaiton seeking PR approval. Since your wife, her children and your siblings are not applying for PR, they do not submit forms. You do need to list them on your own form.

Thanks for the reply thats what I thought. I really dont understand why they said my form is incomplete.
The only thing I can see is I typed N/A instead of not applicable - surely this is not the case or maybe they are that picky.

In section A I listed myself as the applicant DOB address etc.
My wife as my sponsor and my parents

Section B -N/A - I typed N/A just in the top row of that section. Would not applicable have to be typed in all boxes under section B? I know this sounds crazy but I dont know why it came back as incomplete.

I listed all my brothers and sisters - relationship address etc and signed it.
Honestly I cant see what is wrong here.
Any advise would be great thanks

what is section B? and why are you assuming it is N/A to you?

if Section B is referencing children, then i suspect they want you to list your step-children, as they are your family members through marriage. it doesn't matter if they are canadian. they should still be listed on YOUR form.

Section B - Refers to your children as I dont have any I listed N/A.
I see your point about N/A - I guess it is something I always took for granted as meaning not applicable. Do you think this could be the problem here..? As I cant see any other errors with this form.
Thanks - feel stressed :)

yes, i suspect if you mention her children somewhere else in the application, the missing information is probably related to them. again, the only person who submits the form is the applicant. if no one else is applying for PR, then they do not submit the form.

Also, if you have missing information for other family members, make sure to provide an explanation as to why that information is not available. do not just write N/A. explain why it's N/A or unavailable. if family members are deceased, then write "deceased" in the address field.

As far as I can recall we never mentioned the children in any of the papers - but I will double check this thanks.
Otherwise I will just resubmit the papers with "Not Applicable" and hope for the best.
If anyone else knows if step children need to be included, even though they are over 18 and not financially dependent on you.

Thanks a mil

i'd imagine it's somewhere listed on the sponsor application. as they are members of her family. i suspect this is your issue. i don't see why they wouldn't be put on the form as your family, regardless of their age. your parents and siblings are presumably over 18 and are listed, so it has nothing to do with age. this form is about providing your family associations.

I was just browsing and I'm not sure you are doing this right.

I assume you are filling out form IMM5406.

If you read the instructions pdf on the CIC site it says:

SECTION B
Write the personal details for your children. It is very important that you list all of your
children (even if they are already permanent residents or citizens of Canada). This
includes:
• married children,
• adopted children,
• children of your spouse(step-children) or common-law partner,
• any of your children who have been adopted by others,
• any of your children who are in the custody of an ex-spouse, former common-law
partner or other guardian.
You must answer all questions. If any sections do not apply to you, answer “N/A”.

there you go. the guide clearly answers your question, and they ARE expecting you to put your step children on the form.

Hi I thought this form was completed but once again CIC wrote back to me :
"Additional Family Info IMM5406: A separate and newly completed Additional Family
Information form (IMM5406) bearing original signatures This must be received at this office by: This
must be received at this office
"
The form was signed by me the applicant anyone know why I would have received this back again?

Thanks
