Hello everyone,

My PGWP expired August 30th, I applied for a study permit August 28th, my study is to start in January. I’m I allowed to work full time while on implied status?

Also, on CIC website, it was stated there that students can work full time due to COVID if they are essential workers, is this still applicable after August?

Others can comment / correct but simply applying for a study permit does not as far as I know give you any status to work that would have finished when your PGWP expired. You would not even be considered a student whilst on a PGWP and will not be able to work now as far I am aware until you are back in full time study. In fact believe you should have flipped your status to visitor pending getting your approved study permit.

The essential worker exemption was for students to work full time on a study permit who normally could only work part time whilst in full time study, believe that expired Aug 31 but not applicable anyway if not in full time study.
