CAIPS is short for 'Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System'. It is the computer system used by Canadian visa offices to process overseas visa applications.

One side note: CAIPS.ca is not an official agency or CIC/Governmental entity. It's just a company offering CAIPS related services, just like the tens of other companies out there. We, as applicants, can approach any of them.
