i have been working as a nanny to my employer for 2 years 5 months.
my first year of work was really good coz i had overtime.
in other words i received more than what's in the cotract.
during my 2nd year,my employer resigned from his job.
it started midyear when i received less hours.(to make it clear,i am paid by the hours consumed.it's not a fixed salary of a nanny)
i considered my employer's situation having no job because by the time he was on job i received more.
the start of my third year ,my employer went for a vacation for 2 weeks.it was a family vacation so i didn't have kids to look after.i was off from work for 2 weeks with no pay.(my concern, should nannies be paid when employers are gone for a vacation?)
in fairness with my employer he paid for my ticket for a visit back home this year.he said that it's my birthday gift and christmas bonus
but this june i received less hours.and in july they had a family vacation again for 2 weeks.again i was off for 2 weeks without pay.i got less hours again.this august, they'll have a family trip for a week and i'll be off from work again for a week and no pay.
as i calculated my salaries starting in january this year,i didn't really get what should nanny take monthly.and salaries are not given on time.
should i stay on the job?

Are you under the live in caregiver program? If yes, you can apply for your PR and open work permit now. Why don't you do that? Once you have an open work permit, you are free to go work anywhere.

Your employer should go by the labour standards of your province. Probably he should pay you 2 weeks vacation per year. As for hours, as far as I know, an employer can decide your shifts. If your hours are cut down, you will have less money. In Alberta this is allowed anyway.

yup i am in a live in caregiver program.i did submit my application already for PR and open visa.
my employer already gave my all my annual leave with pay.my concern is, when employers will have a family trip for a week or 2,nannies sometimes don't have job to do.in that case, should the employer pay the nanny the week they are gone because it's not nanny's choice to be on leave.

You have the check the labour standards in your province. It's possible there are different rules for nannies but for example in Alberta, say you are working in a factory and there is not much to do, your employer has the right to tell you to take a week off without pay or even a month or even "I don't know how long but I will call you when there is work".
