Hello everyone :)

I got married to an Egyptian man in Egypt last December and I would like to sponsor him to immigrate to Canada with me I understand there is no income requirement but I want to ask if I need to live with him in Egypt for a certain period of time before I apply since he cant travel to Canada as a visitor? Thank u in advance to anyone who can help. Debra

There is no requirement that you live with him outside of Canada. But if your relationship does not look genuine because of a quick marriage, short courtship or you two never spending time together expect that it will take a while to process the application and a lot of documentation will be required to prove your relationship genuine.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.... We met online 3 1/2 years ago I traveled to Egypt for a month in Nov 2012 I stayed with his family we have many pictures and I went back a year later Nov 2013 and we were married in Dec of 2013 and I`m here now for its been 6 months we do have many many pics . I was going home soon to apply but then heard we might need to live together for sometime first I don`t want to keep flying back and forth I would like to get this over with so he can join me in Canada I`m on CPP disability so money is of concern so this is why I wanted to ask before flying home. Thanks again, Debra

You should be fine to apply for his PR sponsorship then. Include all the proofs you have and ticket stubs, pictures and such from your trips. You didn't marry him on the first trip over so that will help to alleviate that concern. Just put together a solid application and be sure to cross all of your t's and dot all of your i's and you should be fine.

Best of luck to you.

You can check out this link for people who are sponsoring through the Cairo office. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cairo-visa-office-t69666.4800.html

If do have any red flags, it's better to address them best as possible in your application ... the fact that you didn't marry on your visit, and you have visited more than once works in your favour.

Good luck to you and your husband.
