My partner applied to change his status from Worker to visitor but he didn't fill out the form and submitted online until 17 days before his work permit expired (IEC work permit). We didn't notice til after he filed the form that it says online that it has to be filled out 30 days before the expiration of his current work permit. Is that 30 days a recommendation or is it a requirement for him to be accepted as a visitor? His work permit expired on Feb 2, 2015 and we still haven't heard anything back even though he submitted on Jan 14, 2015
Our other concern is that we didn't fill out the UCI # because when we looked on his work permit there was no UCI # so we didn't know what it was. How ever while going through the CIC webpage I noticed that it says it is called the Client ID # on his work permit.
We are really worried that my partner is here illegally even though he filled out the form before his current one expired (just not 30 days before) and because we didn't realize that UCI and Client ID were the same number so we left the field blank.
What should we do? Just wait it out and see what happens? Call CIC? Have him go over the boarder and try to re enter Canada? He is from England but we could take a visit to the States for a day or two.
