Please help - study permit

Hi guys! I am really stressed out right now as I try to complete all the requirements for the study permit application for Fall - October 2017 intake. I am from the Philippines and studied secondary school (I have to be honest here, I did not do very well in secondary school, I failed 1 subject) as well as Diploma in IT - graduated in Year 2010 in Singapore. Now I am going to study Culinary Arts Diploma and have already been accepted and given LOA by a college in Vancouver. Being a chef has always been my dream but never got the chance to pursue it. I have all the required documents, funds, and planning to open up a restaurant in the Philippines upon completion of my Culinary Arts Diploma. Any advise please? Thank you so much!

Not an expert here but be sure to write a very convincing SOP as your previous and proposed courses are from both very different industries. The VO might see this as a red flag. Have you had any work experience as a chef? I would also advise you to include documents that would serve as proof of your plans to open a restaurant in the Philippines such as land title, etc.

I have worked in the computer field for 8 years. My dream is to take up culinary in Canada. I was told that the study permit will be refused as it does not match with my previous course. If any one has some work around I will do whatever it takes. Appreciated.

The fact is that the visa officer is not convinced that you will leave Canada at the end of your temporary stay, based on the fact that you're going for a course which does not match your prior qualifications and experience. How are you going to justify spending thousands of dollars traveling to another country to do a culinary course, then returning home to restart your career? Common sense tells you that you're not intending to leave Canada at the end of your stay therefore the visa officer cannot establish that you will leave Canada as per IRPR 216 (1) b.

- I take a 1 year graduate certificate of either information security management or information technology network security course.
- After accomplishing said course, i take up culinary course.

How would that establish that you will be leaving Canada at the end of your temporary stay? It will be less convincing that your initial application to the visa officer since it shows you're not genuinely interested in studying .

You were denied a study permit in the first place because the visa officer cannot establish that you will be leaving Canada after your studies. Changing your course isn't going to change the fact.
