Hi

Sorry but I posted this question in PNP section for about 2 weeks but no answer I thought anyone here might be able to answer this for me please, want to help a friend but want to be safe at the same time,

Would provincial nominee be considered a sponsorship, one of my old friends asked me to help him to be nominated (pnp), my question is if he gets here to Manitoba, if that person takes some loan or gets help from the PROVINCE, Employment and Income support in the coming 2, 3 years OR may be 10 years, do I need to pay that , some one told me that I would be responsible for 3 to 10 years , my friend is a professional guy, but just in case , I want to help but at the same time want to play safe.

Best regards

He needs to show 2 not 1 affidavits of support from close friends or distant relatives in Manitoba. That is in case when one of you guys will get missing and he can't pay his debt.
So yes, if you sponsor somebody you will be held responsible for his financial problems for the duration of sponsorship and after, till debt is paid of. Would be best that you call Monitoba PNP, you will get all details.

thanks , for how many years I could be responsible for his expenses

Is he applying under general stream ? If so, you will have to sign part 1 and part 3 of the MAS. Part 2 only if his finances do not meet MPNP requirements. Part two say its apply from the date of landing in Canada. No expiry date. So you could be responsible for providing shelter, food, clothing and other goods or services necessary for day-to-day living as well as the dental care, eye care and other healthcare needs not covered by Health Card to the rest of his days (or yours, whichever comes first). You have to call MPNP.

Only if you are required to sign financial support agreement. That you will have to inquire through MPNP.
