Hi everyone,
I need some help. My brother got his nomination as a skilled worker (with job offer) back in Feb. 2013. We know that his file is overseas, hoping to get medical request. Today he heard from his lawyer, who has told him, that in order for him to get his application finalized, he should start another application for work permit. Have you heard such thing? Or is this lawyer trying to make more money for no reason?
Hope to hear from someone.
Thanks,
Tara

Actually, when your brother got nominated for SINP, he would get two letters, one for him to apply PR, another one is an option that he can apply a work permit. Most people would apply work permit and PR. The benefit is applying a work permit is fast than PR so that the applicant can land at Canada fast. And then wait for PR in Canada.
I am also SINP, and got work permit already, but still waiting for medical request. Hope this will help you.

Thank you for your reply. It is true, that he got offered the option for work permit, once he got nominated, but my brother did not go for it, but now after a few months, his lawyer is forcing him to take it, otherwise his whole application for permanent residency will be refused. Not sure what to do.
