Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking your time in reading this.

I am BC PNP Applicant. My application was received by Federal CIC in March 2012. I am planning on having religious marriage with my fiance next week in Bangladesh, but my fiance does not want to have paper marriage at this time. She wants have a pilot relation for 2 years and then if things go well we will have official documented paper marriage. So for the next two years we will be in a relation without getting officially married.

My question is that next week when I have religious marriage ceremony do I have to inform CIC of my relationship status change ? regarding my in process PNP Application in Ottawa. Technically without having paper marriage I am still a single....as we are not going to have official documented marriage until next two years.

My fiance in in Bangladesh and Bangladeshi citizen.

Please help me

Thanks

Does Bangladesh recognize a religious wedding as a legal form of wedding ?
You seem to say that you will not have any papers so I'd say no but can you confirm ?
Is your wife to be in your application (as common law partner ?) or not at all ?

No, you do not have to inform CIC of this change. This is for the following reasons:

1) You are not married
2) You are not in a de-facto spouse relationship (i.e common-law). You are not living together
3) You are not considered conjugal partners because it is your choice to be living apart and are not impeded by immigration barriers.

The one thing to consider though in this case, is whether or not Bangladesh considers your religious marriage a legal marriage. Are you now officially married in Bangladesh? When you mean paper marriage, do you mean in Canada?

If in Bangladesh, this is considered a legal marriage, then you must inform CIC.

Thanks a lot for your kind reply. In Bangladesh official marriage is when it is documented and marriage documents are submitted to court. But in my case we will not be submitting any documents to the court nor we will have any documentary proof about it. We will have official marriage after 2 years and then we will inform the court and submit required documents.

Then as said above, you don't have to declare it ;)
Have a great wedding =)
