Hi there everyone!!!

So here is my situation,I'm currently on a temporary visitor visa in Canada,it's been 2 weeks since i'm living with my boyfriend,Canadian citizen. We are in a relationship over one year now but this is the first time that we actually are living together. He is renting an apartment,my name is already on the lease and i've join to his bank account since the first day i enter in Canada, meanwhile he is working to support both of us.
My plan is to stay here for the rest of my 6 months visa and one month before i wanna extend my visitor visa.

My question is what reasons should i state in the extension???Should i tell that i wanna stay for another 6 months and after we have accomplished the 12 months of living together we wanna apply for a common-law sponsorship???

I'm really new here so if someone has any advise would be highly appreciated :)

Tnx in advance :)

Hello!
From what I understand, it's not a good idea to extend your visitor visa saying that you are going to apply for common-law later. I'd suggest to find some other "excuse" to stay, then after the 12 months, apply for common-law.
And from now, keep everything that shows both of your names or that shows you are living together. Also take some nice pictures! =]

Good luck! ;)

I would suggest to visit a few places while ur stay here and by the time you go for an extension you can say you want to explore Canada more maybe mention a few places. Save all the proof of your travel and you can send in it as well to shows that you have been exploring here. You can also enroll in a school as well for a short course if that is something you want to do.

Actually - quite a few people on visa-exempt have stated that they want to stay in Canada with their partner while they wait for PR, or they wait to qualify for CL, and it hasn't been an issue. Showing that you're serious about getting an extension and following the rules is probably a good idea.

Yes you might be right, I've found another situation like mine and other people suggest her to say the truth that she wants to stay so she can get the 12 months of living together.
As a matter of fact,i've been thinking why shouldn't this be a good reason to extend a visitor visa,if you more think about this one of us needs to be on a tourist visa for a whole year in order to get the 12 months of living together either me in Canada or him in my country.Either way one is gonna ask for an extension, so yeah i might just be honest and tell them that i want to stay here with my partner, providing all the documents that he is financially supporting us and me not working just waiting for the 12 months for CL and then apply for a PR.
