Hi,

My employer in Canada just informed me they just got a positive LMO for me. I am about to file for my working visa. I will be going to Canada on a working visa together with my spouse and my 14 year old son as my dependents. The guidelines in the CIC website regarding working visa fees are not so clear to me. How much will I be paying for me, my spouse and my 14 year old son? My son is currently in Grade 10 and hoping to enroll him in Grade 11 in Canada this September. Please help. thank you very much and God Bless.

i've been researching this very hard for the last month for my friend in Jamaica
for him, he needs to pay 150 Canadian dollars for his work permit which includes the visa fee. if your dependants come, they are prob going to come on visitor visa and that is 75 canadian dollar each.

i really hope this helps!

here is the link from the CIC on the work permit.. cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/work.asp

A bit of additional info for you. Your son will NOT require a study permit to attend secondary school, since one of his parents (you) will be on a work permit. However, if he decides to continue studies at the post-secondary level or after reaching age 18 or 19 (varies by province), he will need to apply for a study permit if your staatus at that time remains the same.

Best of luck!

If the prinicipal applicant has NOC classified as O, A, or B, then the accompanying spouse is automatically entitled for an open working permit, thus the spouse fee is just like the principal applicant which is CAD 150. My son who is on its secondary stage (14 years old) of his education needs to study in Canada upon arrival and is also entitiled to an open study permit will have to pay CAD 125. In summary:
Principal applicant: CAD 150

Spouse: CAD 150
14 year old son: CAD 125

Total: CAD 425

This is what I have undersood in the CIC guidelind though I am not very sure about my understanding. Kindly confirm please if this is correct. Thank you very much.

Thank you needle artist. That really is helpful. My son is 14 years old. Contract is 3 years. We also have pending PR application which was applied under the November 2008 rules. God willing, our PR application must be finalized by the time my son reaches 18 or 19. As I am filing for a working visa soon, my concern at this moment is the calculation of my working visa fees bringing my son and my spose as my dependents to Canada. Can you please help me in this regard? Thank you very much.
