My son was born a few days ago and I got an ITA from August 17th. We fill up all the forms at the hospital for the birth registration but we were told it could take up to 6 weeks for it to be uploaded on the system and until then we would be able to request the birth certificate from a registry.

Does anyone know how to get the birth certificate as soon as possible. We do not want to miss the deadline to submit our PR application?

try to go to your local registry

Processing Time

It usually takes two to three business days to complete a request after a registry agent or Registry Connect submits it.
If information is missing, the application may be delayed.

I went to a local registry but they do not even have my son's info on their system. I will call the vital statistics office tomorrow to see if they can speed up the process.

Hi,

I just got my son's birth certificate today after two weeks of his birth.
As far as I know there is no way to speed up the process in the vital statistics office. You can only pay for fast processing at the registry which will save you 2 days.

I kept calling the VSO all the time and maybe that helped a little bit but who knows...
