Hey,

I'm from the UK and planning to go to Canada this December as a tourist (which I'm allowed to stay for up to 6months right). I'm going to apply for a work permit before I go so hopefully it will process whilst I'm in Canada and then all I need to do is cross the border and re-enter for the work permit to be in place.

So here's the question, would I need to book a return flight If I'm visiting as a tourist? Or could I book a one way flight and then stay longer than the 6months if the work permit is successful. Or would I need to book an open return? Anyone know the answer to this? :\

Also I dont need a visa at all since Im only a tourist at the start and thats got something to do with UK and Canada having the same Queen?

Thanks in advance!

It depends on the IO at the border.

Without a return flight you increase the risk of being refused entry, the other issue that you may have is, a lot of carriers will not provide a one way flight for tourists.

Not really, read the notes for visitors at the CIC web site.

Thanks in advance!
