Please help!apply sponsorship outland inside Canada,but work permit is expiring

Hello everyone,

I need advise from all you kind people in forum. My situation is as follow:

I am applying PR through my common-law girl friend who is permanent resident.
We are going to apply outland inside Canada, I am working with post graduate work permit.

My only problem is the work permit is going to expired June 2016.
If I cannot get my PR before the work permit expired, do I have to leave the country?
Or can I apply a visitor visa? a study permit?
What should I do?

Prior to your work permit expiring, you can apply to change your status to visitor.
