Hi

Thank you in advance for replying to this message. It is much appreciated.

We have just been asked to post our passports and send a Right of Permanent Residence Fee to complete the final stage of our application.

1) I am assuming that by receiving this notification our application for Permanent residence has been approved?

2) Does anybody know if the Right of Permanent Residence Fee is to be paid for each applicant (including second applicant) or does $490 cover the whole application?

3) Does anybody know how long it takes to receive the PR cards once we have arrived in Canada? Am I right to say that cards are posted?

4) Is it possible to leave Canada right away once the cards have been received and re-enter after a year or so? I understand that it is a requirement to spend 2 years out of 5 in Canada to maintain the status of permanent resident. But would we be required to take medical exams again? Or to show proof of funds? In other words, after the PR cards are received is it possible to come back home to settle our affairs before moving permanently to Canada?

5) What happens if a passport expires and has to be renewed after the PR card is issued? Would we have problems to enter Canada again with a passport different from the one used for the "Landing" visa?

6) Finally, can anyone reccomend a reasonably priced phone consultation with a lawyer for the above matters?

Thanks again to anyone that can give any help.

Gandi

Hi Gandi,
In case you are landing in Toronto and need temporary accommodation while here, please check: www.canadiantransitions.org. You can use our company too as a temporary mailing address for yr PR and SIN card.

Hi there

Here you go some notes
1- Congratulations!!! yes it means that you have been granted for PR
2- the payment for the Right of Permanent Residence Fee is personal, each adult must pay for this fee
3- It depends on where do you land, for instance in Alberta it takes less than two months
4- yes you can leave canada with no problems once you have the PR cards, just keep in mind that the time you are out it will not count for you
5- It should no be a problem at all!! just make sure to replace it as soon as it expires in order to avoid any possible gap
6- why would you need a lawyer???

Good luck and congratulations
Eduardo

Hello Eduardo,
Thank you very very much for replying to my message. I am most greatful.

One clarification, point number 4 you said:

"4- yes you can leave canada with no problems once you have the PR cards, just keep in mind that the time you are out it will not count for you"

Does this means that I will not need to take the medical test or show proof of funds again when returning to Canada the second time with the PR card?

Since I have friends in Canada, do you think I can ask them to post the PR cards to me if the cards arrive after I left Canada to temporarly return to my home country? Or do you think it's necessary that I wait to receive the PR cards before I leave Canada?

Thanks again, much appriciated.

Hi Gandi

No, you don't need to show the funds again, and perform a new medical neither

So if you have not received the PR yet..., yes my friend you can go back to your home country and ask you friends to courier them once the receive them... but...I would also want you to be awared that, sometimes Canadian immigration ask the immigrant to pick the PR in person or just to retake a picture and if you are out of Canada it could be not nice.

so if you are able to wait ultil you have the PR(s), I hardly recommend you to do so.

Regards
Eduardo

Thank you very much Eduardo...
I have noticed that you have helped so many people with your very helpful answers.... Maybe you should think to become an immigration lawyer as it sounds like you could be a good one! :D

Out of curiosity, how do you know so much about the Canadian immigration process? I have tried to find information on internet but they are not usually detailed and sometimes I wonder about their reliability.

We are planning to go to Canada in a few months... we are quite scared because we don't really know where to start... also, we have a few things to settle in our home country before permanently moving to Canada...

Thanks again for replying,
Gandi

Hi my friend

Yes, I guess I missed my career…just kidding. Actually I love my job as administration

I would like to say that all what I know is thanks to all the people that have been sharing their experiences and issues, also all of them shared the way how they got solved their problems and others were not such fortunate people, but either way I learned from the bad and good experiences along the last almost 3 years since I became part of this group, so like the old men always say, the years give you everything… if you are able to listen.

bottom line, if you learned from others, then share it to others.

And this is really me… I love help!!

Thanks!!
Eduardo
