Please HELP: About our COVID-related visitor visa application

My wife submitted a visitor visa application just a month ago to join me (a PR) in Canada. We have no sponsorship application. Our case is kind of related to COVID-19 (we have to be together because of a medical issue), though while wrapping her application, we mistakenly chose "family visit", instead of "others, COVID-19" for the combobox of the purpose of trip. It seems that our case will not be processed fast but in a 200-and-whatever-day period which is approximately stated in the IRCC website. We sent a webform to them three days ago, explaining the situation and asking them to switch that purpose of trip. But we have not heard anything from them. Now, we're thinking to submit another application, this time considering the "others, COVID-19" option. Are we allowed to do so, say, having a visitor visa application while having another pending one?

I am in a same situation as you. I took the help of a lawyer and today i asked them if they chose the Other-Covid 19 and those stupid people said family visit but they sent webform with declaration and other stuff. I am Permanent resident and I applied extended family trv for my fiance who was pursuing erasmus internship in Spain. So i believe that visa will be processed in Paris visa office. Right? But after finishing the internship my fiance will move to another country, and with the updated address the visa office will be in Ankara. Apart from updating the address using Webform, should i also contact the Paris Visa Office to transfer the file to Ankara VO ? Please suggest- thanks in advance for your help.

i dont think applying again would help. It would actually create more confusion. But please let me know what happens.

If you can show that you are undergoing lifesaving medical treatment like cancer treatment you can apply for PHAC and get your doctor to fill out that application. That would likely help secure a TRV.
