Hi, I was wondering if someone could please help me.
I am from England, currently in Canada on a year working visa, living with my boyfriend who is Canadian. As I understand I am able to apply for another year visa when it opens again (which is what I was counting on) but I have read on some forums that people have had their second year visa rejected as they have not lived in England for more than 18 months in the last 3 years. Before coming to Canada, I was living in Australia for a year (which is where I met my boyfriend) so by the time I apply for my 2nd year visa, I would not have been living in England for at least 18 months in the last 3 years. Does this mean my visa will be rejected?

I don't think that this is an issue. I believe the rules were changed several years ago, and what you are planning to do is quite common.

From the CIC website:

British Citizens will no longer be required to demonstrate habitual residency (i.e. that they have lived continuously in the UK).
