Hi all ,

I'm going to apply study visa soon. I choose to be self-funded as i'm working for 4 years and have sufficient fund to pay for my own study & living expenses at Canada. I would like to submit along my wife's bank statement and her pay slip to show the visa officer that i fulfill the criteria of showing a reliable source of funds for the duration of my academic program as my wife still having income because she is working on my home country while i going to Canada to study. Besides this, can it also proof i had tie with my home country with the above proof?

So in my case, does my wife consider is my sponsor even though i'm fully SELF-funded?

I had more fund than my wife , what so i fill in the study visa form?? "Self-funded" or "other" (assume that i will submit my wife's bank statement still, and she is working too)??

My intake will be at April 2012, please give me advice on when should i submit my application by the latest month ??

Please help me and would appreciate all your help. May God Bless you.

Hi,

1. You should keep in mind that as per the General/SPP visa checklist you need a certified loan.

I quote General Visa checklist;

AS A PREFERRED OPTION for proof of funds: A copy of an Educational Loan from an Indian Chartered Bank equivalent to at least 80% of tuition +living + travel expenses for one academic year (normally, first year’s tuition, unless already paid, plus $8000).

Pay attention to the underline word, it was not there by pre September 2011. So, you can see the importance of a certified loan as the same is a surety to the visa officer (in fact a certified surety) that your bank is ready to finance your education. A loan is not just a surety but more a proof of your financial status as well. And also, it is a very easy to manipulate a bank statement. I am not saying that you can’t go with a personal saving, but really you need an impressive bank statement of the last 24 months, heavy ITR returns (of self), impressive work profile etc. And also, it’s NOT written anywhere that you can’t apply on the basis of a personal saving alone.

2. For April 2012 intake, you can apply for visa from 1st week of Feb, 2012.
