In progress vs. in process

I have a French background so I turn out to native English speakers who can clarify to me the context in which CIC uses In Process on Ecase whereas in the GCMS/CAIPS they use In Progress but not In Process.
Before I ask this question I had to check different kinds of dictionaries but I thought since it is a CIC question, the forum is the best place to get the best answer based on their past experiences.

Thanks everyone.

Make sense Diyabra. Technically I felt there was a slight difference in those 2 words. File can go in process meaning eligibility passed then it can gradually progress from point A to Z after it have been put in process.

Nice work buddy.

Process: It is sitting on someones desk.

Progress: It is moved to a new desk.

Steerpike if I understand what you are saying. File is sitting on officer's desk without being processed and in progress is when the officer start working on it. Is what you're saying?

No notes say there is an interview or red flags, now here is my question: why eligibility still says In Progress when it should have said Passed since 2013/Nov/01? Because the due date is long gone? Did the officer forgot to put Passed?

So your ecas is saying in process which means they have started working on your file. The file is split into different parts, eligibility, criminality and security. They are currently working on your eligibility which is why it says in progress.

Well, Chickie my due date when the decision was supposed to be taken is passed. I am confused as to why they put that due date there in the first place. Don't you think?

I wonder what this means:
Conditional
Status: Review Required

Since your file hasn't been updated since 26 April 2013 (or is that 2913...which could be your problem), don't be too surprised if you receive your AIP (or maybe even AIP and DM) before your information changes on Ecase. :)

Apparently, trying to use logic in deciphering how/why CIC does what they do, will drive you crazy. You can call them and hopefully get more information, or...you can just wait and keep checking your email (don't forget to check your junk/spam folder) every 10 minutes. :-\

Sweet!! I will write to them but they rarely reply to my emails. When I checked the notes in GCM , one of them show that the officer is satisfied with our relationship and and we are a good match to each other. I agree with you that what CIC does can really drive somewhere crazy because it is difficult to understand what they write at times. Since all the field were filed in that eligibility section and a completion date (due date) already passed. I assume they forgot to put pass because they are waiting for medicals or my security check to be completed.

Here is what I see in your assessments.

ASSESSMENT

Eligibility: In Progress
Security:
Criminality: Passed
Medicals: In progress
Final: This is where they will put (APPROVAL / DENIAL)

I studied your initial question and came up to these conclusions.

1. Eligibility: Since the date of your eligibility was to be finalized has elapsed and there are no negative remarks in your CAIPS notes apart good and positive from the officer. You should not be worried about that. They will change it to something very soon hopefully “passed”

2. Security: goes hand in hand with Criminality check as I already explained it in one of the thread here. One thing I will add here is that, although security and criminality is completed after documentation verifications, remember that medicals are part of security check too. If you did not see anything on your security section it is because your medicals are in progress right now. When they will complete them you will see security and medicals updated at the same time if there is nothing else to be done on your file.

Your VO will put a bring forward date on your file of when they should go back to the file if they are waiting for something for example they asked for my RPRF fee in March 2013 and a there was a date of May 2013 which was the 60 days they gave me to put in the RPRF fee.....they may or may not go back to your file at that time but that is what the date is for, we didn't hear from them again until Aug 2013) The due dates are just like a buffer zone of when they "should" be completed and this isn't always updated.
