Good day to all .

My name is Donaldson and I've lived in south Africa for 20 years plus . I'm originally from Congo and as a refugee I came to south Africa when I was kid . I lived , worked and even went to school here , I consider it home here .

I've been seeking asylum at our immigration department here but never granted ( keep in mind how long I've lived in south Africa) and with out a passport I'm restricted to travel.

Is they any information you can provide on applying for an asylum outside canada and would a immigration lawyer handling the process be of any benefit .

Regards
D.

You cannot claim asylum to Canada directly from outside of Canada. You would need a visitor visa approved for Canada, board a plane and then claim asylum at the airport. Considering you do not have a passport and already are a refugee this would be a difficult task.

Also because you already are a refugee in a safe country you might be refused even if you did make it here as you are already safe from Congo.

Have you researched if you qualify for any economic streams to Canada?
I copied this from another poster.
