PLEASE!!!anyone got visa after they are checking his/her background? 9 weeks ago

I got e-mail today from Embassy of canada in Abu dhabi after 9 weeks ago when I've applied :

(( All applications for temporary residence in Canada are subject to statutory requirements, including background checks. These requirements must be satisfied before an applicant may be granted temporary resident status. We are currently conducting certain background investigations. As these are conducted by outside agencies, we are not in a position to determine when your application will be finalized.

We can appreciate that you anxiously awaiting news about your application. Please rest assured that we will be in contact with you as soon as possible. ))

anyone got visa (study permit) after they are checking his/her background ?? :eek:... and does this mean that my application is in final stage before they take the decision ?? ???

One of my friends also got same email two years ago when he applied for Masters in canada. but after six month he got his visa. your security/background check will be cleared soon It does not take too much time now. So you dont need to worry about it. you will get your visa for sure.
were you asked to submit your travel history by embassy. I guess you visited any middle east country in past right?

No, they didn't ask. I'm from Yemen but I've lived in Saudi Arabia since I was born. I've got my bachelor of Engineering from Egypt which I studied there. My twin brother got his visa two weeks ago ???

the standard processing time for study permit is 8 weeks in Abu dhabi

As far as I know that embassy does choose applicant for background/security checks randomly.that is why your twin brother already got visa..but I am pretty sure that you will also get you visa. yes It takes little time to be cleared. so just wait and inform your university/college about your status of visa application.

Are background/security checks considering as the final stage of processing before they take the final decision ?? :)

Yes once background/security check is cleared then you will hear about status of your visa application whether it has been approved or refused.So you can say that your application is in final stage.

Could you tell me where your friend is from (who got visa) ?? India or Pakistan ?

What I know is that it's so easy to get visa for Gulf people
