Hi all

Great Site and thanks to all those who take the time to respond.
Here is my situation. I am a U.S. citizen and Imapplied for the quebec skilled worker program which has been granted on December the 8th and now en route to apply for the PR..For those who might wonder why I want to move to Canada..well I had a girlfriend now the mother of my Canadian daughter who is a Canadian PR and she does not want to live in the US and personally I find Canada a very nice place to raise a child( not that the U.S. is not but just a preference). I spend more time in Canda as a visitor but cannot stay for more than 6 months..
My question is can I apply here in Canada for a job while my Par is pending? And chill I need a labor market assessment..I have a Masters degree in Business own my small Tax business but really want to be able to move up here before I get my PR since it takes in average 33 months in New York to get the PR...anyone with knowledge of this specific subject please respond...

If you want to work before your PR status is granted, you will need to first find an employer who is willing to offer you a job in Canada. If that job does not fall under NAFTA, your employer will then have to obtain an LMIA to request permission to hire you. This will involve advertising the job for a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role, paying a $1K fee, and waiting several months for the application to be processed. If the LMIA is approved, you can then apply for a work permit.

If you are either married or common law (have lived together for at least a year) with the mother of your daughter, she can sponsor your for PR through family class which could take as little as 4-5 months.
