Greetings everyone,

I am a Skilled Worker Applicant under the point system, applied at CHC - New Delhi in Dec 2003. After a long wait, we were requested to deposit passports, Right of Landing fee (ROLF) and do the medicals all at same time in Oct 2009.

We had all the above requirements fulfilled, and CHC received the documents on Nov 2, 2009. Now Since November, it's been 7 months and we still haven't heard any news from embassy, even the online ECAS status says "in process". Usually people and earlier applicants claim that at CHC Delhi, it takes about 2 to 4 months after submitting the passports and medicals to get the passports returned to applicants with visa. Why could possibly our case be taking so long ? Our Doctors had told that our medicals were fine, our police clearance was also positive. My elder son's medicals had to be done through Ottawa medical office as he resides in Canada, could the medicals from Ottawa to CHC new delhi take that long ?

Also, does it help to believe that since medicals are only valid for one year, therefore our medicals will expire in Oct 2010, so the embassy will have to give a reply by then, as unless there is a genuine concern that took time, they wouldn't ask applicants to redo medicals. Has this happenned in the past?

We have also sent an email to embassy regarding the unusual delay (and also to confirm if they have indeed received the documents we sent) their reply was ... that processing might take time ... and they asked us to wait.

Any ideas or any suggestions regarding what we should do or expect, will be greatly helpful.

Hi,

I can understand your frustration and tension about the visa. However, there is no other option other than waiting. I don't see any thing strange on your case itself as there were too many applicants from different regions waited long period for their visas. You still have enough time in front and I suggest you may get ready and prepare everything for a re-location to Canada except the ticket booking. Hope you will get your visa this month itself. Wish you good luck!!!.

Thanks for the insight Wilson, given the situation you do seem right. It's just that at times there are things that applicants can do (like enquiring the embassy) to avoid any mis-communication from the embassy.

Anyways, just now I read an article, that many Army officers in India are denied Visa. I did work in Army for 5 no-combat years of short service commission, but that was 2 decades back, and now I am a Bank security manager. Any insight on this issue anyone?

Thanks once again Wilson...
