Asking on behalf of a family friend. She came to Canada for a short course that did not require a study permit. She applied for a study permit after securing the offer of acceptance in May 2020. She got her study permit approval online in August 2020. However, the study permit was not issued until November 2021 due to a Covid delay.
Meanwhile, she started her program with an approval letter. Whereas, in March 2021 school asked her to withdraw until she gets the study permit. She complied in March 2020. Instead of joining the school this January 2021, she was informed that all spaces were filled up. After contacting the school, they advised she wait till May 2021 for a spot and only then can an offer be made. Fortunately, her study permit has been read for 90 days now. Meanwhile, she will be out of status by March 31st. anyone knows what she can do before March not to be out of status before May 2022

How did she maintain her status after her initial under 9 month program?

OK, that is a short course of less than 3 months, which means she doesn't need a study permit (she had temporary resident). If you read the second sentence.

I think years and timeline are so confusing, somewhere you mention she was asked to withdraw in 2021, then complied in 2020 then this year 2021 ( this year is 2022), then advised to wait until May 2021, then she will be out of status March 31st, the last question if anyone knows what to do before be out of status in May 2022.
Can you proof read and rewrite in bullet in ascending order?

Two options:

1. Leave the country and reenter
2. Change the status

May 2020 - defer admission acceptance to Sep. 2020
Jun 2020 - (TRV stamped on passport arrived)
Sep 2020 - Fanshawe college allowed to join class with the study permit approval after confirming from IRCC
Dec 2020 - completed semester 1 still waiting for study permit to arrive in mail.
Jan 2021 - enrolled & started semester 2 with approval contacted IRCC, agent apologize and said it will be issued soon
Mar 2021 - Fanshawe college said they have no choice than de-enrolled her for that semester until study permit presented.
Mar 2021 - on school advised she withdrawal from program.
Nov 2021 - late Nov 2021 study permit arrived in mail. Student contact school if she can re-enrolled for May 2022 (no seat for Jan 2022).
Fansahwe college is saying by April she will be out of status counting from Nov 2021 (150 days) when study permit was issued. The only available date college promise to
re-enrol her is May 2022. I hope I make it clear now. Thanks everyone!

It is clear now, it is tricky with 2years time waste due to IRCC. She can enroll, and apply for the extension attaching all correspondence. Another problem will be, if it takes longer processing time same college will de-register again, plus tough situation with pgwp in future
