My visitor visa to canada was rejected in Jan 2016 with reason " purpose of visit ".I was to visit USA and wanted to visit Vancouver for one week.
I have valid visa for usa since 2012 but did not travel on this visa before.
My daughter have moved to Vancouver on student visa in dec 2015.
I ordered GCMS notes and it noted that ' Applicant visited on business visa earlier and now have applied for tourist visa and daughter have moved to Canada."
In my application I did not say I would visit her.
I wanted to know should I reapply now or should I visit usa first and than apply . does this help
thanks

Hi,

In my application I did not say I would visit her.
It's pretty obvious if you state you want to visit Vancouver then you will meet your daughter.

Family Information form!!

What was the purpose of your visit? Did you submit any day-by-day itinerary or mention who you want to visit?
What ties did you show to your home country?

Cheers

Thanks Bryanna for your valuable reply.
no I did not submit day to day itinerary.I submitted my purpose of visit as to visit Vancouver as a tourist.
My home ties are my family , my wife , my son , my business everything.
Should I visit USA before I reapply
Please suggest
thanks

Purpose of visit cannot be as simple as to *visit Vancouver as a tourist*. If there's no host to take care of accommodation/expenses, it is necessary to draw up a day-by-day itinerary with expense estimates (hotel, travel, sightseeing, meals, incidentals, etc).... and prove you have the finances to pay for this.

This itinerary will also show you have a well-planned trip.

Should I visit USA before I reapply
Based on your post, I am guessing you did not present your strong ties/ reasons to return properly. Visiting the US which will only add to your travel history. Strong ties would matter more
