Hi!
I will be landing in Canada on November 3 as a new immigrant. I was wondering what places I could look at to stay at, for at least the first few weeks or so, as I try and get a more permanent situation for myself. I had heard of SameHomeStay, but I have been unable to get them to respond to my queries for reservation thus far- I was hoping for a similar kind of home stay or hostel that I could stay in short term. I would like for wherever I am to have internet included, if at all possible. I will be one single guest.

Please let me know of any such places. I will greatly appreciate it!

Hi,
I just landed two days back. I am staying in an apartment (whitehall suites, mississauga). I was looking for a place with kitchen/ laundry/ internet and proximity to transportation/ shopping centers. Rent is slightly higher, but it is far better than spending a lot of money on restaurant food/ taxi.

Airbnb might prove to be a good option provided you do the due dilligence and check the reviews and talk to the people.
Do not pay rent upfront.

Check this thread for scam using Airbnb name:

Other options could be motels costing around $60-70 per day. You can stay for a week and in that time, look for apartments on rent.
look for Basement/ Apartments/ Shared acco (if coming alone) on kijiji.ca for ads in the area you want to live.

Hope that helps.
