Hi,

Newbie here. I'm currently in Canada on a tourist visa, looking for a job. Once I am able to secure a work permit and positive LMIA, is there a way for me to get a work permit from within Canada?

I've been reading up online, and the general consensus is that it is not possible. I've seen a caveat in the IRCC website though.

For a new work permit, you can apply:

from your home country or another country where you are lawfully admitted. Follow the instructions on how to apply for a work permit, or
in person or by mail at the Visa Application centre in New York.

Anyone here have experience applying for a work visa at the Visa Application centre in New York?

Thanks!

Hi, a lot of people say this is not possible. I applied for a WP inside Canada and I'm waiting for answer right now but I asked this question to my representative, regarding what some people say, and he told me in theory is not possible but in a practical way it is. When you are doing your app online you must to select that you are applying outside, even if it's not, so the application will go where it has to go based in you home country and not in where are you living (visit) right now.
