During COVID when the PR Online Confirmation Portal was introduced, my spouse was able to obtain her PR card whilst outside of Canada on vacation whilst I was inside Canada.
Looking back at the PR Online Confirmation Portal I realized that we should not have used the portal to obtain our PR until my spouse had returned. At that time, she managed to return to Canada without issue by showing a photo of her PR card to the border agent.
Fast forward a few years, we are completing her Citizenship physical presence and that particular trip needs to be split in two as the calculator rightly will not let you add a trip that straddles your residency status. First half of the trip as a temporary worker, second half of the trip as a permanent resident but the only solution is two separate trips added on the calculator.
This also includes a day where it seems as though she returned to Canada and flew back to the trip destination, which is incorrect. She remained at the trip destination whilst her status changed from Foreign Worker to Permanent Resident.
Has anybody come across a similar situation during the physical presence calculation as a result of an eCOPR and PR card that was obtained whilst outside of Canada?
