Hi all,

I have been using the Physical Presence Calculator in order to evaluate the eligible date for submission.

I am wondering if there is currently an error within the CIC calculator ?

E.G. I am entering outside travel dates from MM/DD/YY to MM/DD/YY here: 08/12/2014 to 09/20/2014 and the system is saying it results in 19 days travelling. However, it should be 39 days.

All my other entries are the same. The system is calculating half of the actual days. Why is that? and how can this be fixed as it will be required to print the calculation sheet.

Are those days before you landed as a PR? Those count as half days.

I checked you are right. The entry refers to my temporary status and I just checked another travel after becoming PR and the absence counts as full day.

So during Temporary status the time spent OUTSIDE of Canada also only count as half day ? That's pretty generous.

1. No, the days outside Canada count a 0

What I mean is that the days spent ouraise Canada during Temporary status count only as half day for the time spent outside Canada. It is clear that anytime outside Canada does not contribute to the time spent inside Canada.

I just find it generous that CIC is granting half day instead “charging” a full day / per day spent outside which obviously shortens the timeline in becoming eligible.

I have the same question - I was out of Canada from 2015.2.10 to 2015.2.29, but the # of absence is 0?

That is due to the math for calculation...the calculator calculates all the eligible days "from PR till date of application" by reducing the "absent days" during PR, and then further adds up the "50% of present days" during the "Temporary Resident" period. So it ignores all the absent days in the "Temporary Period" as not relevant for calculation of "50% present days during temporary residence"
