I thought I only needed four photos for the family app, those that are used for the medical exam. I had four taken last Sunday, and they were all used. Now I am seeing I need six (four for medical, two for other form). First off, is this correct?

Secondly, I called the photo place that did my four and they no longer have them on file (only 3 days). The only photo I have left is one with half a stamp mark on it from the medical examiner.

What should I do?
(1) scan it and print two more and include a note as to why there is half a stamp on each
(2) Get two new photos taken?

Or do I have to do my medical all over again?

I can't believe I made this mistake!

If you're applying from the U.S., the country-specific guide instructs you to provide "four (4) recent photos for each member of your family and yourself." (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3910e.pdf), these 4 photos are to be attached to your immigration application package that you'll send to the Case processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The medical examiner requires photos as well, though the number required varies, check with the DME as to how many.

So i'd suggest you take new pictures and specify the photographer to make four copies (more if you wish to keep some extra for your records, which I did). Do the same for other family members if you are including them in the immigration application.

Good luck.

Thanks Farfelu,

That's the form I was following. I made four and they were used for the medical exam.

Then I saw this in the Guide (5289): 2 photos for the application for permanent residence
The photos must have been taken in the last 6 months and must adhere to the specifications listed in this guide. It is not necessary to provide photos for dependent children who are already Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Note: You also need to provide photos when you go for your medical examination. Refer to the Medical instructions section for more information.

So do I need 6 or am I ok?

That guide (IMM 5289) is for applicants applying from within Canada (referred to as "Inland"). are you applying from the US or are you applying Inland?

if you're inland, then do follow IMM 5289 guide, otherwise go by IMM 3910e, which indicates to provide four photographs.

Cheers.
