On the document appendix A it says:

''The photos must:

measure between 25 mm and 30 mm (1″ and 1 1/5″) from chin to crown
have a 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″) finished size
''bear the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) directly on the back (stick-on labels are not acceptable)''''

Secondly, on the document check-list it asks for:

''On the back of five photos write the name and date of birth of who appears in the photo as well as the date the photo was taken. Leave the sixth photo blank.''

Problem is that I have read on other threads for the photo requirements that people are getting the company to stamp the date on the back and/or the company seal. However it doesn't ask for that nor say this anywhere on the CEC website?! We got ours done today and was running around all the shops in town to get this date stamped on, yet not one place could do this.

Am I missing something?

They must stamp pics. The must also date them.

By the way, On the document appendix A it ALSO says, right before The photos must:

Notes to the photographer
, ;D

''bear the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) directly on the back (stick-on labels are not acceptable)''

No need for the sarcasm! I was clearly quoting the application guideline and checklist, it doesn't say anything you have just said?

I don't understand why you posted that link, as it doesn't say anything on there like 'you must get the company to stamp the date on the back' nothing to that sort on either appendix A or check list :-\

Ok. When i went to London Drugs, they have all the system ready to take the pics for PR application and the procedure is stamp and date. If you want just date, get a date stamper and do it yourself. Perhaps you will be lucky and the official is not picky with that. If he is, you will have to send them again. It is up to you. Here we are to help diminish any issue with you application in the future. If you don't want to be on the safe side, be my guest.

Good luck.

Ok thanks for your reply.

Ultimately people are doing it to be on the 'safe side' then and not because it is requirement from the CIC - glad thats cleared up.

Were in the UK and went to four different photo shops and non had a date stamp nor company stamp which I found hard to believe but that's the UK for you all. I was mearly questioning if it was something they 100% expected seens though it just says write info on.

Again thanks for your time :)

If that is a direct quote, verbatim, then I do not see why you would be prohibited from writing the date on the photo yourself, as that is exactly what it tells you to do.

As for the other link below, it also does not specify that the date the photo was taken must be stamped on.

Check all the instructions again just to be sure, but if it doesn't specify that you must have it stamped, then you aren't required to have it stamped.

Thank you muchly for your reply J.M! Thanks for clearing that up. It is directly from the CIC site and document check list so I think this will be just fine but to be on the 'safe side' I will attach the receipt I got from the photos showing the date, time, address of the company etc.. :p

Sounds like a plan. I know when I applied for a different document it specifically stated that I needed the name and address of the photographer(or company) on the back of one of the photos in addition to the date. Just follow the instructions and there shouldn't be any problem.
