Hi, I am an 4th year international PhD student in university of British Columbia. I study chemical engineering.
I tried express entry but i don't have enough points. I heard PNP can provide me points if I am a PhD student. Can anyone let me know whether this is true or not?
If this is true, can you guide me about the procedure?

I am currently a PhD at UBC, but I applied for non-express-entry using my master degree from BC, becasue I have always been studying full-time and never had full-time working experience. If you have an eligible master degree from BC and 1 year job experience in NOC O A B before, you can apply for BCPNP express entry (international post-secondary stream: master/PhD degree from eligible programs in BC) and get 600 additional points when you get nomination. If you have not obtained your PhD degree at UBC and also did not have eligible master degree from BC, you cannot apply for the steam of international post-graduate.

I am sure that you can figure the process out by yourself as a graduate student.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately I do not have a Master degree in UBC. So I cannot apply for the international post-graduate stream for BC PNP then. :(

You can wait and apply when you get your phd degree from UBC, but you need to make sure that your PhD program is one of many eligible programs. Best:)

Hi, I'm currently a master student in BC and going to get my degree soon. I don't remember where did I read the rule from but I have this memory that you cannot pursue a further degree once you have applied the BC PNP as they want you to get into the labour market. Do you have any idea about this? Maybe I'm wrong because you've already applied successfully?

I do not think that is such a rule because I have some friend who got PR through PNP after their Masters and decided to continue doing PhD.

As long as you show intent to reside in BC, either working or studying is fine.

Sorry, recalling of one more question. To apply BC PNP, you need to show intent to reside in BC. But when applied the study permit for PhD, you need to show the officer you will "leave Canada when your permit expires".
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/eligibility.html
Those two requirements are contradictory. How do you justify this? Please help, thanks.

Hi friends,
I am an international MSc student at the University of Victoria and intend to pursue my studies after the completion of a master's degree. I have heard that I will not get enough points if I do not have any job offer? Does the points matter for post graduate BC PNP category?
Thanks in advance,
Bir
