Hello guys!!
I'm an italian student and I was enrolled in a University of Toronto PhD funded program. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of money in my Bank account. My question is can I use my PhD stipend (more or less 20,000 $CAD per year) as a proof of financial support in order to obtain the Student Visa?

Thank you in advance

Hi,

You can show your PhD funding as proof of your financials. However, showing some financial assets (yours or your family's) based at home will immensely help your application.

Thank you so much!! Just to be sure, when you say financial asset do you mean bank statements and documents of property (like my house)?

Thanks again

Hi,

Does the stipend includes the annual tuition or the tuition is waived?

Well 20k is a little less than the minimum annual financial needs of a student in canada, if your tuition is more than 10k. You need at least the Tuition + 10k living expenses for a year. You can use personal assets as proof, but liquid funds are always better.

Well In this case that's good. But send all the documentation and letters that proves that the department will cover the tuition. Hope this helps.
