Hello everyone,

New :) to this forum and looking for guidance, still going over www-cic-gc-ca for details.
I am a pharmacist with almost three year of work experience and PharmaD (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree.

I guess i can qualify under Skilled/Professional worker.... How long is the application process, i think ielts is required.... what are career opportunities for a pharmacy specialist in Canada? please share your experience. Thanks

Pharm D is a first degree.i.e. Bachelors degree. It will earn u 20points.As per prospect for Pharmacist in Canada.I will say that all depend on ur ability to pass ur equivalence and qualifying exams. For a foreign trained pharmacist, about 2 yrs is needed to write exams and register as a pharmacist. If u are doing well in ur country of origin, u may want to continue ur carreer where u are.The choice is urs.All the best.

ramuk- Initial point calculator give me 70 points so qualification should not be an issue, i assume it takes close to 2 years from start to finish? Can you share your research on potential opportunities in Canada.... I see many opportunities on monster.ca for pharmacist?

Hi Pharm D,
Fortunately, the new NOC ministerial list has Pharmacist as one of the 29? occupations. If u truely want to apply as a federal skilled worker,my candid advice is that u first go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/ and read every requirements.Dowload and digest the applicants guide before asking questions on the forum. This will reveal all the basic things u need to know about the application.Getting pieces of information here without going tru the application guide may not help u too well.
To answer a bit of ur question,Time line depends on u and visa office. If u put all ur documents correctly at once and u don't allow request for additional documents, it speeds the process up.Ordinarily the entire process is btw 6-12months.Settlement fund for 2persons is minimum of 13,801 Canadian Dollars.See below
"The amount of money you need to support your family is determined by the size of your family. These amounts are updated every year.

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $11,086
2 $13,801
3 $16,967
4 $20,599
5 $23,364
6 $26,350
7 or more $29,337

You do not have to show that you have these funds if you have arranged employment in Canada.
All the best
