Hi guys,

Always many thanks to all your help on this forum!!

I am at CRS 463, but as my PGWP is expiring on May 16, I think I should prepare for visitor visa application.
But I heard that it may be difficult to get visitor visa after pgwp or staying in Canada for a long time as CIC might think that I am not leaving the country. Is this true??

To be safe, what should I write on the application form, for the reason for applying visitor visa? simply travelling?
lastly, would it be necessary to show return ticket to my home country?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you!

apply for TRV when WP expiring is standard procedure. You just have to explain why are you staying (traveling, visit friends, waiting for ITA, etc)

You are doing the right thing to extend your status. At worst you get less than 6 months.

I don't think you have to show return ticket at this time.

I am guessing you haven't been invited yet to Express entry?

If you get invited then you can apply for a BOWP.
Have you tried filing a LMIA for your current job? I wasn't able to get a LMIA since my job was in oil and gas but depending on your NOC, you might be able to get it and extend your work permit. (they kept denying it saying my company didn't try hard enough to hire Canadians.. economy is shit so it makes sense)

Anyways, My PGWP expired while my application was in process, so I applied to restore my status as a visitor explaining that I am waiting for my PR application to be completed.

Your situation is a little different, but just be honest and say you are hoping to apply for PR soon, but if not that you are willing to leave the country when the visitor visa is expired.

Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks guys!!

I would definitely say I will be travelling, but besides that, it is okay to say I will be waiting for ITA during my visitor status in Canada, correct?

SSLEE,

I am not currently qualified for LMIA as my wage is below the median.
I will ask for a raise soon, but even if my wage becomes qualified, my WP is expiring very soon, so need to stop working anyways, and if that happens I don't think my company would continue supporting my LMIA.

yeah as long as you make it clear that you will leave when the permit expires then it shouldn't be a problem.
LMIA has been very hard to get lately :(

I have been waiting here as a visitor since November..and it's killing me!
Hopefully you will get ITA soon and you can apply for a BOWP because waiting for PR as a visitor can drain your bank account real quick lol

Yes, it is very hard to get LMIA.
There's one former employee in my company applied for LMIA, submitted a pile of documents to support, but got rejected for stupid reason.
I think most of office jobs (including mine) are very hard to get approved.

can I ask what CRS you had? got invited under CEC?

My CRS score was 469, and was qualified for both CEC and FSW but they made me apply under FSW (inland)
I was invited last October, submitted my application on Nov 9 and I am still waiting for it to be finalized.

I've been in Canada for 14 years.. so you can see how frusting this can be lol
They screwed us post graduates with these new express entry points really bad! we didn't need LMIA before so you are pretty much robbed of that 600 points right off the bet. but I guess life isn't fair

LMIA rejection rate is somewhere like 70%. Don't count on it. Look into PNP options if you wanted to stay, although you probably don't have time to complete the whole process before it expires in May.

Well, at this point, I should just wait until the scores come down.
Too many obstacles towards LMIA and PNP, like processing time, wage issues, etc.

I also entered Working Holiday pool, so hopefully I get selected in a few months, so that I can start working again...

well then I have nothing to count on.
Thanks for reminding lol
On a serious note, PNP is the only probable way for graduates.

Yes, McCallum said he may gives points to Canadian graduates, but really it could be years away so don't count of that either.

I KNOW FEW PEOPLE WHO GOT STUDY PERMIT AFTER THEIR PGWP.

YOU MIGHT WANNA TRY STUDY PERMIT.

NB: STUDY PERMIT ALLOWS YOU TO WORK 20HRS/WEEK.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi guys...

I am currently answering the questions on visitor visa eligibility questions online, and it asks: How long are you planning to stay in Canada?
There are three choices, less than 6 months, more than 6 months, and permanently.

Not sure if it's safe to choose more than 6 months.
Does anyone of you know what to select??

Thanks!

Hi,
you can stay in Canada for 6 months on visitor visa so if you apply for visitor visa I would choose less than 6 months answer.
