Hello there,

I applied for my work permit on June 12,2020 and got a refusal on November 2,2020 for not maintaining full time status during my studies. the first break was due to financial and medical reasons for which I provided medical reports for when I applied for reconsideration. The second break wasn't really a break but a part time semester caused by a miscommunication with the university for which I received a letter from the university stating the situation and what happened. I attached the supporting documents in my reconsideration application. I got an information letter from IRCC today that they received my application and on basis of my substantive merits their decision to refuse my PGWP application remains the same.

I am not sure what to do next. Should I apply for a study permit?

You can certainly apply for another study permit if you are willing to return to school full time. You will need to complete a brand new program to qualify to apply for a PGWP and will need to make sure you remain a full time student this time.

Another option would be to switch to a work permit. However this will most likely be extremely difficult to do since you need a job offer from an employer in Canada as well as an approved LMIA from that employer.

I finished my associate degree, and I can apply for a bachelor. do you suggest resuming my education at the same university?

That's really your choice.

Or you can just do another diploma.
Take into consideration money and time.
If you have those, go for a bachelors.
Make sure your DLI has programs eligible for PGWP.

Guys, My program is 2 years full time and 1545 hours. Can I get 3 years of PGWP?
