Hi all,

A couple of months ago, I got my PGWP through flagpolling, and I noticed that it is actually longer than my passport's expiry date!!
I know that CIC states this cannot be done, but apparently it is..

If it makes any difference, the permit is valid for 3 extra months beyond the expiry of my passport.

So my assumptions:
1. The CBSA officer did a mistake, did not know the rule/forgot/got confused etc.
2. The CBSA officer noticed that but assumed I will renew my passport, and because it was only 3 months, he granted the full length.

Any ideas? Should I amend the document?

Nobody has any similar experience? Am I in such a unique situation?

Any suggestions from the more experienced members?

CIC states that permits should not be issued longer than the expiry date of the PP but it also states that it's up to the discretion of the VO.

I haven't heard of a case involving a WP issued longer than PP but i have seen several cases of study permits issued for a period longer than the PP validity

I think the scenario 2 seems like the case for you.

Nevertheless, your WP is valid until the date printed on the permit and once you renew your passport just carry both together anytime you need to travel.

Here's a case of a SP issued longer than PP

Hi there,

I have also been issued a PGWP which is valid beyond my passport expiry date. I am just wondering, what did you do in your case? Did you amend the document?
