Greetings All,

My wife is pregnant and she is due in end of Nov /beginning of Dec 2016, I would like to invite My mother in law over to stay with us from November 2016 to Mid Jan 2017.

I was wondering if someone can please share the Documents required in order for her to be here (By reading different threads I know it is a long duration to mention for a Tourist Visa, however the situation is like that).

About me:-
PGWP ending April 2018.
Working Full Time (Permanent Position) with a renowned Canadian software company as Analyst from past 6 Months, Worked with another company for 1.5 years before this.
Have the NOA (Notice Of Assessment) for 2014 & 2015.
Combined Income (for Me & My Wife) is arnd Cad $ 6500/month after taxes (Arnd Cad $100 K)

About my Wife:-
Spousal Open Work Permit ending April 2018.
She is working Full Time (Hourly Pay - Permanent Postion) from over a Month now.

About my Mother In Law:-
She is a Housemaker, Never Worked.

She will be leaving her Husband (My Father In Law behind) who is a Doctor In India, Has their own House (worth arnd CAD $ 100 K) , 2 Daughters married, both with Kids and a Son who is engaged to get married in Feb 2017, so it is for sure that she has to go back to India by the mid of Jan 2017.

Youngest daughter (Sister in Law) is studying in Canada from August 2015, Her college will end in Dec 2016.

All the expenses will be incurred by Me and my Wife, she will staying with us for the complete duration in our house, have a lease which end in Feb 2017.

Please let me know what are the chances of her getting the TRV,

Also what all documents will be required from Me, my Wife and Mother in Law.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance to all.

Hi,

I missed seeing your post.

A couple of suggestions first:
1. Do not mention about your wife's pregnancy and that your inviting your mom-in-law to be with your wife/take care of your wife and your baby.

2. A two months visit is too long. Keep the visit to 2-3 weeks.

Your documents are fine. Your MIL, however, has to prove her strong ties to India.
1. Does she own the property jointly with your father-in-law?

2. Does she have a bank account (sole ownership or joint account with your FIL or any other family member)?

3. Can your MIL show adequate finances of her own for the visa application?

4. Does she have any financial investments? FDs, RDs, shares, mutual funds, LIC, etc

5. What evidence can she provide for her son's wedding?

6. Will your sister-in-law return to India after she finishes her study program?

Cheers

Hi Bryanna,

Thanks a lot for taking time out to reply, please find below my answer in highlighted font.

1. Do not mention about your wife's pregnancy and that your inviting your mom-in-law to be with your wife/take care of your wife and your baby.
Sure, that shouldn't be a problem.

2. A two months visit is too long. Keep the visit to 2-3 weeks.
Do we have to get the Tickets accordingly and then she can stay till January?
Also, If we mentioned that she is coming in the Mid November then will her Visa Starts from Mid November or as per the Tickets?

Your documents are fine. Your MIL, however, has to prove her strong ties to India.
1. Does she own the property jointly with your father-in-law?
Not sure but we can have an affidavit made, also can have that translated in English.

2. Does she have a bank account (sole ownership or joint account with your FIL or any other family member)?
She does have a Sole Ownership bank account for sure, Will get the confirmation for the Joint Account, My FIL's name is on her passport, can we use that to prove the relationship as additional document with a copy of his Passport.

3. Can your MIL show adequate finances of her own for the visa application?
I am assuming it will be the valuation of the Property.

4. Does she have any financial investments? FDs, RDs, shares, mutual funds, LIC, etc
I dont think so, I will be adding all the documents for her like my Appointment Letter and Pay stubs for the last 6 Months (Alone for me its 4.5 K a month after taxes, not including wife's pay into it) wont it be sufficient?

5. What evidence can she provide for her son's wedding?
We can show pictures of the small family function that they already held and the Wedding Card which will show the Wedding date as Feb 28th 2017, also will have her and FIL's Name in it.

6. Will your sister-in-law return to India after she finishes her study program?
She will be applying for PGWP after she is done her studies, and I am not even planning on mentioning her name if it increases the Documentation.

Request you to please let me what do you think.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

Do we have to get the Tickets accordingly and then she can stay till January?
Do not buy tickets until a TRV is issued. You can include provisional flight itinerary and mention the tickets will be confirmed when the TRV is issued

Also, If we mentioned that she is coming in the Mid November then will her Visa Starts from Mid November or as per the Tickets?
The TRV validity starts on the date it is issued. The date will not be the date she intends to arrive in Canada or her flight ticket date

Not sure but we can have an affidavit made, also can have that translated in English.
Do check the property ownership papers.... then I will advise.

An affidavit will not help. Property ownership documents, property tax receipts, etc will work

My FIL's name is on her passport, can we use that to prove the relationship as additional document with a copy of his Passport.
This is fine

I am assuming it will be the valuation of the Property.
No. She must be able to prove that she has her own liquid finances to pay for her visit..... either her own money or else provided by your FIL through a Letter of Financial Support

I dont think so, I will be adding all the documents for her like my Appointment Letter and Pay stubs for the last 6 Months (Alone for me its 4.5 K a month after taxes, not including wife's pay into it) wont it be sufficient?
This will not work.

The visa officer wants to see that your MIL has her own finances. You may want to consider including FDs, RDs, shares, bank account statements, etc of your FIL as part of your MIL's financial situation (if she does not have any finances of her own)

We can show pictures of the small family function that they already held and the Wedding Card which will show the Wedding date as Feb 28th 2017, also will have her and FIL's Name in it.
This will not help much.

It's easy to print wedding invitation cards. You should include receipts for booking the venue, catering, decorations, etc.... a couple of email invites to relatives/friends requesting them to keep these dates free.

She will be applying for PGWP after she is done her studies, and I am not even planning on mentioning her name if it increases the Documentation.
There's no way around this as her details will show up in the Family Information form = makes your MIL's family ties to Canada stronger than those to India (except for your FIL, as her other children are married/not dependent on her)
