PGWP Extension (Issued To Passport Expiry): Please Help, Any Advice Is Appreciated

Hello everyone,

My PGWP was issued Feb 2022 to Dec 19th 2024 due to my passport expiration date. I have a Bachelors degree. Unfortunately I didn't get the full 3 years which should expire in Feb and not in December. On my permit, it states that "PGWP was issued to passport expiry"

Can I apply for a work permit extension if I have 2 months or so left? I am a bit anxious that CIC won't get back to me by the 2 months I am asking for based on their backlogs. What do I do then? Will they deny me because extra 2 months have passed. or will they add extra 2 months whenever date they approve me?

I am so confused. Please help as I am running out of time and trying to figure out if an extension is even capable. Thank you so much for helping me.

You have to do it ASAP before December 19 and it is a paper application. You get it, if approved, until February 2025. You should have done this months ago.

Thank you so much for your advice. I couldn't apply for an extension unfortunately because my passport application has been in progress since October and I don't know if it is worth it now.

You need an updated passport to extend. If you don’t get it then quit working on date of expiry.
