Dears,

I have a situation here:
- I hold a PGWP that will expire next month. Note usually PGWP is given for 3 full years but because my old passport was expiring, they gave work permit for 2 years and 9 months (3 months less)
- I recently joined a Canadian company (less than a month now) and have been offered a permanent job offer.
- I need to extend my work permit however:
-- I have been told that to extend work permit I need LMIA application
-- I have also been told that there is a chance to extend my current PGWP for 3 months more
-- I have also been told that the LMIA application could be different (no need for the company to advertise) if I have been working in the company already.

Does anyone have any certain information about the above? and if it is possible where do I start?!

Thank you for your help

Thank you for your help
1. You can extend you PGWP for the 3 months.
2. For any further extensions you require a LMIA
3. The company has to advertise the position for a minimum of 1 month in the job bank plus other publications. The no advertising for PGWP holders is no longer in effect.
4. If they want to hire you permanently, then they have to apply for a dual intent LMIA which will cost them $1K. Note that without an approved LMIA you will have to stop working once your PGWP expires.
